A book by Kenneth Scott
Born to Live
Reflections from My Ninth Decade
What happens when a man in his ninth decade does not feel at the end of life, but at the beginning of something profoundly new?
What if aging, as commonly described, is not the full story?
What if renewal is not theoretical, but lived?

What follows is an early reflection from Born to Live!
It is a record of alignment—with biology, with experience, and with the simple truth that life, when properly supported, seeks continuation, renewal, and expression.
What follows is my personal account of how that alignment unfolded: how vitality was cultivated, how rejuvenation became real rather than theoretical, and how a man in his ninth decade came to feel—not at the end of life—but at the beginning of something profoundly new.
There comes a point in life when the race is over—not because one has fallen behind, but because one has finally crossed the finish line and discovered it was never truly a race at all. Vital longevity is that moment of awakening. It is not merely surviving into old age; it is arriving—at a place where the body feels light, the mind calm, and the burdens that once seemed immense have melted into perspective.
To achieve this state is to live in a form of freedom that few ever reach. The ordinary anxieties of life—competition, deadlines, insecurity, even the fear of time itself—fade into the background. You no longer need to prove anything. You have already done it. Family is grown, ambitions fulfilled, and at last the horizon opens wide with opportunity rather than obligation.
There is a particular lightness that comes with this stage—a quiet detachment born not of indifference, but of understanding. Having lived through cycles of uncertainty and renewal, you begin to see patterns clearly. Turmoil no longer unsettles you. Instead, you recognize it as part of a larger rhythm.
It is an extraordinary feeling of calm confidence. The storms that once shook your world are now gentle rains. The frantic chase for achievement has given way to the art of enjoyment. One can be bold again—not because one must win, but because the stakes no longer inspire fear. It is freedom informed by experience.
This is not defiance of age. It is in harmony with it. It is the convergence of body, mind, and time in a way that feels coherent rather than fragmented. It is, quite literally, a new beginning.

Why This Book
This book grew out of lived reality.
From the perspective of advanced age, Born to Live! reflects on how aging is commonly understood and why those assumptions no longer match the experience of many people today.
It asks what becomes possible when longevity is paired with vitality, independence, and continued engagement with life.
What the book explores
Rather than offering instructions or prescriptions, Born to Live! explores:
- How rejuvenation moved from possibility to lived reality
- How independence beyond eighty was sustained intentionally
- How psychological freedom emerges when decline is not assumed
- How renewal reshapes identity in later decades
- How personal experience intersects with science and responsibility
The book invites reflection personal, societal, and ethical on what aging can mean today.
The Broader Question
If rejuvenation can become real in one life, what does that mean for others?
The book moves beyond the personal to examine cultural assumptions, institutional design, and the responsibility that comes with extended vitality.
It asks whether society is prepared for citizens who remain capable, engaged, and creative well into advanced age.
It challenges the quiet acceptance of managed decay.
Relationship to KHL Foundation
The KHL Foundation advances grounded and responsible approaches to rejuvenation in the present.
Born to Live! provides the reflective and philosophical context for that work. Where the Foundation focuses on evidence, ethics, and real world relevance, the book reflects on what those ideas look like when embodied over time and why they matter. Together, the book and the Foundation form one coherent conversation.
